Business Motivation – January 18, 2010

Honesty Is The Best Policy You always experience the consequences of your own acts. If your acts are right, you’ll get good consequences. If not, you’ll suffer for it. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And your only reward is that it’s easy. You cannot do wrong without suffering wrong. Morality may consist solely in the courage of making a choice. Wickedness is always easier than virtue, for it takes a short cut to everything. But over time you learn, you can’t make wrong work. Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results. You can never lose anything that really belongs to you, and you can’t keep that which belongs to someone else. Sooner or later, everyone sits down to a banquet of consequences. You Do Not Exist For Yourself You’re not an isolated island. You’re a piece of the planet, a piece of the universe. Personal relationships are the fertile soil from which all advancement, all success, all achievement in real life grows. Your success depends on the support of other people. The only hurdle between you and what you want to be, is the support of others. When you put yourself in another’s place, you’ll know why they think and do certain things. You can succeed fastest by helping others to succeed. Always think in terms of what the other person wants. You’ll get everything in life that you want if you’ll help enough other people get what they want. Doing things for others always pays dividends. When you help someone’s boat across a river, you’ll find your own boat has reached the shore too. There Is Always A Good Side Everything depends on the way you look at things. View every problem you encounter as an opportunity. There is always a good side to every situation. The optimist sees an opportunity in every misfortune. The pessimist sees misfortune in every opportunity. The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist sees the hole. You can develop success from every failure. Discouragement and failure are two stepping stones to success. No other elements can do so much for you if you’re willing to study them and make them work for you. When it is dark enough, you can see the stars. You Can See The Future With A Vision Study your present situation thoroughly. Go over in your imagination the various courses of action possible to you. Visualize the consequences which can follow from each course. Pick out the course which gives you the most promise and go ahead. Many successful people use this skill of mental visualization. They mentally run through important events before they happen. Picture yourself in your minds eye as already having achieved your goal. See yourself doing the things you’ll be doing when you’ve reached your goal. You can put your subconscious to work toward making your mental pictures come true. Go over your day in your imagination before you begin it. You can begin acting successfully at any moment. See the things you want as already yours. Think of them as yours, as already in your possession. You can live your dreams if you pursue them. You Control Your Own Thoughts Your life at any time can become difficult. Your life at any time can become easy. It all depends upon how you adjust to life. It’s never the situation, it’s your reaction to the situation. The way you react to circumstances determines your feelings. Your quality of life is determined not by what life brings to you, but by the attitude you have towards life. What happens to you is less significant than what happens within you. You cannot always control your circumstances, but you can control your own thoughts. It’s not your position but your disposition that matters. Master Life, Don’t Let It Master You Some people are successful in mastering life, while others permit life to master them. There is a split in you that is very clear. There is a part of you that knows what you should do, and a part of you that does what it feels like doing. Don’t let passion drive you, let reason hold the reins. Once you understand these opposing forces warring within you, with this knowledge of the truth: you no longer remain a slave. A clear understanding will make you the master of your life. Resistance is your thoughts transformed into feelings. Change the thoughts that creates the resistance, and there is no more resistance. Are you controlled by your thoughts or are you controlling your thoughts? If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self. If you are ruled by your mind you are a king, if by your body, a slave. (Reprinted with permission, Sam Maitz, Director of Marketing Technology, Leadership Management® International, Inc.)

You Can Make Your World Your intense anticipation of things to come will transform your possibilities into reality.  Your desires are the precursors of the things that you can have. They will in time externalize themselves into concrete fact. Just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat, weak desires bring weak results. Live your life with fire and passion. Always remember, if you care enough for the end result, you’ll almost certainly attain it. Your reality forms around your commitments.
